A dream comes true
Initially thought of as a private farm for the exclusive use of the family, after it was acquired by the patriarch of the family, David de Almeida Martins, who always dreamed of living in communion with the Douro, Dajas Douro Valley was born as rural tourism with just one house - Casa do Rio. In fact, the project arose from the daughter's passion for hospitality and the pleasure of hosting, and the entrepreneurship of her husband, Artur, who saw the place's tourist potential and outlined the whole project. Since then, Alexandra and Artur have been receiving guests from different parts of the world, in a relaxed family atmosphere, between playing on the football pitch and in the tree house, to sunbathing by the pool.

The dream of rehabilitating the ruined houses next to Casa do Rio, specifically the old Dajas primary school, the Casa da Professora and the houses once inhabited by the farm workers, led the project to grow, and it now has eight houses, designed to preserve some of the original features and functions, combined with the comfort of current times. In order to revive the past experiences of the farm, we have rehabilitated the water mines on the property, as well as the different ponds used for irrigation. We cultivated the land again, now with a plantation of 2 hectares of different types of lemons: Eureka, Lunarium, Hand Buda, Caviar, as well as various fruit trees. We have brought the animals back to the farm and therefore the place of Dajas has regained its former life. The detail in every nook and cranny, the perfect communion with the banks of the Douro and the appreciation of Portuguese customs make us look at Dajas Douro Valley as a unique place, thought from the heart.
